Starting from the 1st July 2013 Ukraine officially began its presidency in the II-nd East-European Electoral Regional Group that will continue till the 1^st of January 2014.

Following the recommendation of the Ukrainian presidency the vice-president of the II-nd East-European Electoral Group will be Lithuania.

According to the existing practice, during the 6-months term of office the state presiding the Group coordinates its activities, as well as facilitates the elaboration of a shared regional position on issues pertaining to fields of competence of UNESCO – education, science, culture, information and communication. This is especially relevant in the light of the upcoming 37^th session of the UNESCO General Conference (November 2013).

The first meeting of the Group under the Ukrainian presidency will be held at the end of July.
