Starting from the 1st July 2013 Ukraine officially began its presidency in the II-nd East-European Electoral Regional Group that will continue till the 1st of January 2014.
Following the recommendation of the Ukrainian presidency the vice-president of the II-nd East-European Electoral Group will be Lithuania.
According to the existing practice, during the 6-months term of office the state presiding the Group coordinates its activities, as well as facilitates the elaboration of a shared regional position on issues pertaining to fields of competence of UNESCO – education, science, culture, information and communication. This is especially relevant in the light of the upcoming 37th session of the UNESCO General Conference (November 2013).
The first meeting of the Group under the Ukrainian presidency will be held at the end of July.
