On the 15th July 2013 Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of Ukraine to UNESCO Oleksandr Kupchyshyn met the UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova to discuss current issues of cooperation of Ukraine with the Organization.
The Director General expressed her greetings to the Permanent Delegate of Ukraine on the occasion of the beginning of his presidency in the II East-European regional electoral group that will continue till early 2014.
І.Bokova also informed the Ukrainian presidency about her vision of current financial situation in the Organization on the eve of the upcoming sessions of the UNESCO governing bodies this fall, as well as possible ways of its improvement.
The interlocutors expressed their satisfaction with the dynamic development of relations between Ukraine and UNESCO, namely in the field of culture, safeguarding of the intangible and underwater cultural heritage, as well as in the domain of natural and exact sciences.
In this context O.Kupchyshyn specifically noted the efforts of Ukraine to protect cultural heritage of world significance in the city of Kyiv, as well as active engagement of Ukrainian experience and expertise in the process of elaboration of comprehensive approach to urban development and safeguarding of cultural heritage.
The Director General confirmed her intention to visit Ukraine and participate in the Regional conference in Ukraine on the topic of “Education for All” scheduled to take place in the end of 2013 - beginning of 2014.
