The ordinary meeting of the II-nd East-European Electoral Regional Group, Ukraine being its full-fledged member, was held in UNESCO headquarters on the 12th of December 2012.
During this meeting our country was elected as Vice-President of the Group for the next term – first half of 2013.
According to the existing practice, the Vice-President of the Group automatically takes over the responsibilities of its President after a 6-months term of its vice-presidency.
Respectively, Ukraine will preside over the II-nd East-European Regional Electoral Group in the second half of 2013.
The members of the Group also considered the issue of support to the candidature of the current Director-General of UNESCO Ms.Irina Bokova for her re-election to the highest governing post of the Organization for the period 2013-2017. The decision was taken by consensus.
