The 7th session of the Intergovernmental Council of the UNESCO “Information for All” Programme that deals with the issues of ensuring universal access to information and knowledge, was held on 2-4 April, 2012 in UNESCO headquarters (Paris).
At the session Ukraine was represented by a delegation headed by Volodymyr Grytsenko - Director of the International scientific and educational centre of information technologies and systems at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and national coordinator of the UNESCO “Information for All” Programme.
During its meetings the Council examined priority lines of actions of the Programme, in particular with regard to information literacy, preservation and accessibility of information, as well as informational ethics.
Based on the results of its work, the Council adopted recommendations on further implementation and development of the UNESCO “Information for All” Programme taking into consideration the appropriate balance of measures and resources on the regional level.
Ukraine, being one of the world leaders in formulating the demands for development of information society, was elected as member of the Intergovernmental Council for a four-year term during the 35th session of the UNESCO General Conference (October 2011).
