Bureau of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee has decided to postpone for an identified period and without defined venue the 45th session of the Committee, initially scheduled from 19 - 30 June 2022 in Kazan, Russia. This decision was facilitated by a broad campaign against Russia's chairmanship in the WHC and against the session in Kazan, which was launched in UNESCO owing to the efforts of Ukraine and its international partners.
UNESCO Member States realizes that Russia is grossly violating the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, destroying and devastating cultural heritage sites in Ukraine, and therefore has no right to chair the World Heritage Committee and hold its session on its territory.
