On December 16, 2021, «Örnek, a Crimean Tatar ornament and knowledge about it» is inscribed to the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
This decision, adopted within the 16th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, is the evidence of the importance of Örnek, Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar culture and art for UNESCO and Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The Crimean Tatars are the indigenous people of Ukraine. Örnek ornament, Crimean Tatar culture and art are a unique component of culture, art and history of Ukraine. Promotion of the unique Crimean Tatar ornament Örnek is one of the priorities of development of cooperation between Ukraine and UNESCO.
Ukraine - within the Crimean Platform, as well as within UNESCO and other international organizations - actively defends the Crimean Tatar identity, culture and art in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea (Ukraine) and the city of Sevastopol (Ukraine).
