28 February 2020 18:13

On February 24-28, the Permanent Delegation of Ukraine to UNESCO joined the 52nd session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), held at the Organization's headquarters. The event brought together scientists and climate change experts. S.Krakovska, the Head of the Laboratory of Applied Climatology of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Institute of the SES of Ukraine and NAS of Ukraine participated in the meeting.

The IPCC is an international scientific body under the auspices of the United Nations, which aims to scientifically support climate change related activities. The IPCC, established in 1988, is designed to provide governments with regular, science-based assessments of climate change, its impacts and future risks, as well as information on effective ways to prevent and adapt to climate change. This data forms the basis for negotiations at the UN Climate Conferences and facilitates innovative approaches to addressing many of the challenges posed by climate change. The IPCC 52nd session, in particular, considered the structure of the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report. The participation of the representative of Ukraine in the session contributed to the promotion of Ukrainian scientific developments in the world and strengthened the role of our country in the international organizations.
