On February 3, 2015 H.E. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to France, Mr. Oleh Shamshur presented to Mrs. Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO the Letter of Credentials accrediting him as Permanent Delegate of Ukraine to UNESCO.
During the conversation which followed after the ceremony, the parties discussed the key issues in the context of preparation for the next 196 session of the Executive Board, in particular, in the light of resolutions adopted by UNESCO within the framework of two previous sessions «Monitoring by UNESCO of the situation in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (Ukraine)».
Permanent Delegate, Ambassador Mr. Oleh Shamshur emphasized the crucial importance of effective monitoring of the situation on the peninsula by the UNESCO Secretariat, especially in the field of human rights and humanitarian sphere, after Russia’s occupation of Crimea which causes increasing concern of Ukraine.
The parties agreed to enhance working contacts with the UNESCO Secretariat both at the level of the Permanent Delegation and the National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO.
